Economists plan seminars on Mont. energy boom

HELENA, Mont. (AP) ? The University of Montana Bureau of Business and Economic Research is holding seminars on the state's energy development boom in seven cities.

University of Montana economists Patrick Barkey and Paul Polzin will discuss the differences and similarities to past energy booms. The discussion is part of the seventh annual Midyear Economic Update seminar series.

The seminars kick off in Kalispell on Aug. 2. Other presentations follow that same week in Billings, Bozeman, Great Falls, Helena, Butte and Missoula.

The rapid development of oil and other resources in eastern Montana has played a large role in helping the state weather the recession better than others.
