Matthew Fox and Ed Harris in Talks for World War Z

Matthew Fox and Ed Harris are in talks to join Brad Pitt in 'World War Z,' which kind of means that Nazi hunter Lt. Aldo Rayne of 'Inglourious Basterds,' 'The Rock''s renegade Brigadier General Francis X. Hummel, and 'Lost''s Dr. Jack Shephard are teaming up to fight zombies. Sweet.

Also in talks are James Badge Dale (of 'The Pacific' miniseries and AMC's 'Rubicon' fame) and Mireille Enos from TV's 'The Killing.'

Marc Forster is directing the film, an adaptation of the Max Brooks novel set 10 years after a worldwide zombie infestation. The pic is budgeted at a whopping $125 million.

Getting Fox on board might require a bit of schedule juggling since 'WWZ' is slated to begin this month and his next film, 'I, Alex Cross,' is scheduled for an August shoot. (Either that or his part in the zombie epic will be a brief one.)

In 'I, Alex Cross,' Fox will play completely against type as a vicious serial killer with 'Madea''s Tyler Perry, who's taking over for Morgan Freeman as the title character, trying to apprehend him.

Fox just wrapped his West End run in the Neil LaBute play 'In a Forest Dark and Deep,' which is why he's been sporting that slightly gruesome gray beard. (And not due to any back-to-the-island melancholia, we think.)

Harris just wrapped the thriller 'Man on a Ledge,' which is due out next year.

Are you excited for the big-screen version of 'World War Z'?
