Medical Question concerning Cancer Lymphocytes leukemia?

My husband age 26 went into the ER for strange stomach pain, and loss of appetite, and a weird fullness in his stomach. He felt something wasn?t right in his body.
They gave him a catscan, and found that his spleen was swollen, then they found a mass in a lymphnoid near the inner thigh and groin area. His blood work came out abnormal. So they sent it in for further testing. They are sending him in for a biopsy. I found stuff relating to Lymphocytic Luekemia. I?m trying to learn more about his symptoms, and see what his chances are of finding cancer with this biopsy. Does anyone know anything about this???? Thank you!

They are doing a bone marrow biopsy. If he has the acute version, which it sounds like that would be the case, they will definatly see it with the biopsy. By the time a leukemia starts causing physical problems, the marrow is full of it.

If it is a chronic version, thought to me it doesnt sound like it, they may not find it immediatly. I still say that for any leukemia to cause physical problems, the marrow is full of the cancer cells, but chronic can be a lil weird sometimes.

So, it is either ALL of CLL. ALL statistically is more likely due to his age.

My type is AML though simular there are significant differences.

If you go to the leukmia and lymphoma website (www.leukemia-lymphoma.org ? I believe) it will give you a lot of information. Then google search ALL.

This type is most commonly seen in the pediatric field. It is out there, but you will have to look a lil longer to find information pertaining to adults.

Emily, this could be any number of things. From something as simple as cat scratch fever to a type of leukemia or lymphoma like Midnight suggests.

The lymph node biopsy will give you a diagnosis, and hopefully it will be something very treatable. Sometimes the waiting is the hardest part. Hang in there.

You mentioned that his blood work came out abnormal. What was the abnormality? Perhaps if the leukocyte count was high and many blast cells were seen in the peripheral smear, the doctors might be suspecting an acute leukemia and they will confirm this on the bone marrow biopsy. A flow cytometry should help distinguish between the two types of acute leukemia (myeloid and lymphoid) so proper treatment can be started right away.

I know that I can?t be diagnosed over the internet, but I?m really curious. I?m currently experiencing abnormal vaginal bleeding and cramping in my stomach that kind of feels like I have to go to the bathroom but I don?t. Its a dull cramping type of pain. I am currently experiencing vaginal bleeding that goes away then comes back a day or so later. I have had abnormal pap smears in the past (3 years ago). I wondering if this could be cervical cancer?

If you have had experience with cervical cancer could you please tell me what you symptoms were like before you were diagnosed.

you need to see a doctor ASAP. these are symptoms of cervical cancer indeed. hopefully you don?t have it, but since you had abnormal paps 3 years ago and never went back to the doctor, your HPV could certainly have progressed.

I just found out I have Uterine cancer last week. I know Cervical Cancer and Uterine Cancer are pretty much alike. I had four straight months of unusual bleeding and pains like a knife sticking in my lower abdomen. The bleeding is weird?almost watery with a lot of odd clots. In December they did a D&C and an ablation. They tested the lining from my D&C and found the cancer?which they did not find from the usual papsmear.

Besides the bleeding and sharp periodic knife like pains I had pain during and after intercourse and a lot of discharge when my period was light. I also feel numbness in that area, even though that isn?t a posted symptom.

I would go to the doctor and tell him your concern. If you have a good doctor he?ll check it out for you. After all, who knows your body better than you?
