Memorial Day Parade in downtown Yakima

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Dozens of people checked out the annual Memorial Day Parade in downtown Yakima, Sunday morning.

There were high school bands playing, veterans, car clubs, floats and plenty of American flags waving throughout the parade.

It began at 10 a.m. along Yakima Avenue and ran from 6th Avenue to Naches Avenue.

Jerry Burgin, a Vietnam War veteran, watched the parade with his wife Linda. It was also Linda's birthday.

"It's become a double event, her birthday and the parade down here for Memorial Day weekend. It's always nice to come down here and look at the parade," Jerry Burgin explained.

The parade was put on by the Marine Corps League, Detachment #1055.

This is the seventh year for the event.
