Shooting for the film adaptation of Gods Behaving Badly, will begin this month in New York City with an all star cast.
Marc Turtletaub, who up until now has been producing and financing film projects, will be directing for the first time. Turtletaub was the producer behind Little Miss Sunshine (2006), directed by Jonathan Dayton and starring Steve Carell and Toni Collette.
Written by British author Marie Phillips, Gods Behaving Badly is a comical fantasy about ancient Greek Gods living in present day London. Published in 2007, it?was Phillips? first novel and the book became a bestseller in Canada.
Christopher Walken is slated to star as Zeus, a blue collar worker in New York City. The other cast members include Oliver Platt as Apollo, Sharon Stone as Aphrodite, Pylicia Rashad as Demeter, Gideon Glick as Eros, Nelsan Ellis as Dionysus, Rosie Perez as Persephone, Henry Zebrowski as Hermes, John Turturro as Hades and Edie Falco as Artemis.
Mixed in with the ancient immortals will be a mortal couple played by Alicia Silverstone and Ebon Moss-Bachrach.
Commenting on the book, director Turtletaub said, ?Marie?s Gods are like none we?ve ever seen before.? He added, ?Her voice captured me immediately. It is outrageously fun and unexpected.?
