AIE application process grants equal opportunities to adults with or without existing qualifications. The acceptance into the courses is dependent on the interview performance and the quality of the applicants? portfolio.
Game Art and Screen Art courses:
- Enthusiasm for animation and / or game design
- Creativity (original artwork required in the portfolio)
- Traditional or digital artwork such as sketches, paintings, video clips, life drawings, photography, graphic design, etc.
- Familiarity with any art medium including software
Game Programming:
- Interest and enthusiasm for the games industry
- Computer literacy
- Basic understanding of Computer Programming or having used simple programming languages like Visual Basic, Java or html, etc
- Knowledge in Mathematics, logical thinking and/or Physics
Academy of Interactive Entertainment?
- Enthusiasm and interest for the screens (film & TV) or games (programming or art) industry
- Previous study in the relevant areas either self-taught or through formal training (AIE Advanced Diploma courses do not have a prerequisite for any formal qualification.)
- Communication skills
- Ability to work in a team
Melbourne Institute of Technology
- Maturity and motivation
- Previous studies or work experience in the relevant areas, if an applicant is applying for an undergraduate degree
- Pathway options: If you?ve missed out on University, or didn?t meet the requirement for direct entry into a University degree, an MIT Diploma course can still get you in. And you don?t need to do the diploma and then do first-year uni. An MIT Diploma can give you the ultimate pathway into second-year University.

The Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) is the central office that administers the application and offer process for places in tertiary courses at university, TAFE and independent tertiary colleges in Victoria (and a few outside Victoria).
